Student allegedly left alone at store

WINDSOR, N.C. (WITN) - Three Bertie County teachers have been suspended without pay after a parent alleges his son was kicked off a school and left alone at a convenience store.

WITN was contacted by a parent who said his son was on a Bertie Middle School field trip when a fight ignited on the school-bound bus. The parent says his son was let off the bus at a convenience store.

WITN contacted Bertie County Schools. The superintendent said he could not comment on the case because of personnel guidelines, but he did say the three teachers were suspended without pay because of the school bus incident.

When asked about the bus driver, the superintendent said there were three teachers on the bus, and they are responsible for the students. WITN was also told the student was suspended for three days.
