NORFOLK, Va. - More than 4000 sailors from the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit are set to deploy Wednesday from Norfolk and Camp Lejeune, N.C..
The Amphibious Ready Group is comprised of the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) and the amphibious transport dock USS Ponce (LPD 15) homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 42) homeported at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek.
The Navy says the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group will deploy to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.
