SUFFOLK, Va. - A Suffolk man has been charged with aggravated assault and other crimes after he allegedly shot someone three times in a marijuana deal gone bad.

Charles E. Patterson Jr., 19, arranged to meet his alleged attacker in the 4000 block of Belleharbour Circle to buy some marijiana, Suffolk Police Spokeswoman Debbie George said.

Patterson allegedly got into a car with Patrick K. Harris, 21, of the 1300 block of Townpoint Road. "Events transpired that led to the victim attempting to flee," George wrote.

Patterson escaped the car, police said, but was allegedly shot three times in the leg by Harris.

Harris is being held at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on no bond on charges of aggravated assault, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and attempted robbery.
