Tuesday night, friends, family and fellow students remembered 17-year-old Kadeem Daniels. Daniels was killed in a crash on I-64 Monday night. The accident sent three others to the hospital. State police reckless driving is to blame.

School let out for the day at Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach. As students headed home for the day, many of them couldn't stop thinking about their fellow classmate who died Monday night.

"To me it doesn't feel real, but I have to accept it," said Daniels' father Willie Freeman.

Freeman says he got the news early Tuesday morning; news no parent ever wants to hear.

"Troopers came to my door and let us know that our son had been in a fatal accident," added Freeman.

The horrific crash happened on I-64, near Little Creek in Norfolk. State Police say Daniels died after he lost control of his car and slammed into a concrete barrier.

"He was who he was," said Freeman. "Me and him fussed and argued, but in the end he always told me, 'daddy you are right.'"

Freeman says he worried about his son. He says Kadeem was just like every teenager, rebellious at times. Police say he was in the car with three friends. Troopers tell WAVY.com he was speeding and not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

"He was a great kid," said Freeman. "He was going through some things that we all go through as teenagers, but other than that he was a great kid."

Freeman say his son just transferred to Tallwood from Salem less than two weeks ago. He was looking forward to a fresh start. Instead of seeing graduation and watching his son grow up, Freeman and his family say they are now planning to lay him to rest. They say they hope their son's death serves as a message to other teen drivers to slow down.
