Babysitter charged with sexual assault

Newport News police arrested a man they say sexual assaulted three young girls he was babysitting.

Police tell WAVY.com the assaults happened between August 2007 and April 2009. The victims were all between four and 11 years old at the time.

Officers arrested 50-year-old Michael Kohlman on May 5, 2009 and charged him with 13 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, nine counts of aggravated sexual battery, seven counts of forcible sodomy, four counts of indecent exposure, two counts of contributing to the delinquency and one count of object sexual penetration.

Detectives are concerned there could be other victims. Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been molested by Kohlman to call Detective Cyndi Grace at 757-928-4200 or the Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
