NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Newport News Sheriff deputies waddled their way around the fountain at Newport News City Center on Saturday.
The deputies walked a mile in everything from hot pink sandals to wedges.
The lighthearted event drew attention to the serious subject of rape and violence against woman.
"The pain that you have to endure for a mile isn't what they have to endure for a lifetime so its something I can do for 10, 15 minutes no big deal," said walker Brent Furbee.
More than $3,100 for the Center for Sexual Assault Survivors was raised.
