NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police arrested a man for a stabbing inside Magnolia Steak restaurant in Ghent.
Police spokesperson Chris Amos said officers were called to the restaurant at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, April 4. Amos said an altercation led to a man being stabbed.
Police arrested 31-year-old Robert Brainard and charged him with one court of Felonious Assault. He is being held without bond.
According to Amos, the victim suffered minor injuries and drove himself to the hospital.
WAVY.com has confirmed Norfolk Councilwoman Terry Whibley's son was also arrested in connection with the incident. Josh Whibley was charged with being drunk in public. He is no longer in custody.
Police sources tell WAVY.com Whibley's son and the stabbing victim were together at Magnolia's attending a bachelor party when members of the bachelor party got in a fight with another group of people at the restaurant.
Sources say Whibley's son was intoxicated and belligerent. They say Whibley ignored repeated police instructions to step back, so officers finally arrested him, charged him with one count of being "Drunk in Public" and took him to the Norfolk Jail where he was booked.
Whibley is set to appear in court on May 5th.
