Nor'easter rushes in

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Heavy winds and rain due to the Nor'easter are causing some frustration throughout the area. Check out the latest traffic, damage, shelter and power outage updates right here.

Traffic Incidents & Alerts:

Due to high water, Sandbridge Road has been shut down at New Bridge Rd. The back gate at Dam Neck Base has been opened for residents trying to get out of Sandbridge. Officials say there is no time frame for reopening at this time.

Great Bridge Bridge is closed.

Steel Bridge is closed.

Bainbridge Blvd. at the Triple Decker is closed.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel has issued Level 3 restrictions, which means: the only types of vehicles allowed to cross are cars without exterior cargo; pick-up trucks without cargo; mini-vans; vans not to include high-profile/conversion vans; SUVs; tractors without trailers; empty flatbed trailers, commercial buses and heavily-laden tractor-trailers with a 40,000 payload in addition to the rig.

Virginia Beach Surf Advisory:

The Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services has issued a wind and surf advisory. Conditions are not conducive with either wind or body surfing from now through the end of the storm, Bruce Nedelka with the department told WAVY.com.
