VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - WAVY.com wants to help ease concerns about potentially sickening
drywall in local homes.
Last month, we learned a local company, Venture, Inc., bought
tons of drywall from China.
Some companies ended up using the drywall to build homes in
Chesapeake and Virginia Beach.Several people have complained of a
rotten egg smell, possibly from a sulfur-based gas in the drywall.
Now, the city of Virginia Beach has set up a website where
people can find out more information and get answers.
If you suspect that you have Chinese drywall in your home, the
Virginia Department of Health recommends that you first contact
your homes builder.
Individuals may also call the Consumer Product Safety
Commissions toll-free consumer hotline at 1-800-638-2772 or the
Virginia Department of Health at (804) 864-8182 for more
information about Chinese drywall.
