CHESAPEAKE, Va. - After receiving an email complaint, WAVY.com investigated a possible incident involving a pumpkin being thrown from the Route 168 overpass.
Chesapeake police tell WAVY.com a vehicle was struck with a pumpkin while traveling on the 168 Bypass at around 12:50 a.m. Sunday. The female driver received minor cuts to her face after her windshield shattered in the incident.
This isn't the first time something's been thrown from overpass and into traffic below. WAVY.com covered a similar story back in December 2008, where a 25lb bag of salt was thrown onto a car from the 168 overpass. In that incident, a woman's roof and rear windshield were damaged. She was not hurt.
Chesapeake police say the crime is a felony and carries serious jail time and fines. If you have any information that could help police find whoever is doing this, call 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
