The Surry County property once owned by suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick, returns to the auction block this afternoon. Scott Hicks of Motley's Auction & Realty Group said the house will go to the highest bidder above $590,000 at 4 p.m. Friday.

The current owner tried to sell the property at auction last December, but said he failed to receive a suitable offer.

The home was at the center of the dogfighting case that led to Vick's guilty plea in federal court last year, and subsequent guilty plea to state charges last month. WAVY News 10 broke the story in early 2007 when investigators removed several dogs and dogfighting equipment from areas behind the home.

Vick is serving his federal sentence at a prison in Leavenworth, Kansas, and could leave 6 months early and enter a halfway house, as a result of his most recent guilty plea.

As Vick hopes to be reinstated to the National Football League by Commissioner Roger Goodell, his bankruptcy case has hit an apparent snag. According to the Associated Press, creditors in the case objected Tuesday to Vick's disclosure statement, debating that it lacks "sufficient detail" regarding his finances and prospects of returning to professional football.

Vick filed bankruptcy  in July, claiming assets of $16 million and liabilities of $20.4 million. Vick's disclosure statement said he "has every reason to believe that upon his release, he will be reinstated to the NFL, resume his career and be able to earn a substantial living."

Among the creditors are the Royal Bank of Canada, Wachovia Bank, 1st Source Bank, Radtke Sports, Joel Enterprises, Inc. and the Atlanta Falcons, where Vick played during his career. The team website lists Vick on their roster as suspended.

Vick is expected to leaved federal prison next Summer.
