Statement from Venture Supply Co.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Venture Supply, Inc. issues the following statement in response to recent media
inquiries regarding gypsum board imported from China:

Because of a shortage of construction materials from a booming housing market and massive
damage in the United States in 2005 caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma, domestic
builders, suppliers, and importers began bringing significant stocks of foreign manufactured
drywall into the United States.

As one of those suppliers, Venture Supply, Inc. imported 2000 pallets of 3660 x 1220 x 12.7
MM gypsum board from Shandong Taihe Dongxin Co., Ltd., Tain Shandong Province, China.

At this time, it appears that the subject gypsum board was sold by Venture Supply, Inc. to
various builders and installers in the Tidewater area from March of 2006 until December of
2008. The subject gypsum board can be identified by looking for the name Venture Supply, Inc.
on the unfinished surfaces.

Venture Supply, Inc. is currently collecting data from homeowners, builders and installers who
believe they may be affected by the subject gypsum board. At the same time, Venture Supply,
Inc. is cooperating with the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission and state and local
departments, including the Chesapeake Health Department, in their efforts to assess whether
there are problems with this gypsum board, and, if so, what is an appropriate solution. Venture Supply, Inc. is also in the process of retaining environmental and construction materials
consultants to provide independent opinions on these issues.

Venture Supply, Inc. understands the concerns of the community especially when there is so
much conflicting information in the media and on the internet. If there is anyone who feels that
their immediate concerns are not being met, Venture Supply, Inc. encourages them to contact
appropriate governmental officials and/or seek guidance from health, legal or other
professionals.
