CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A Chesapeake woman was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years with eight years and 10 months suspended--14 months spent in jail--for shooting and killing her husband during an argument, according to the Chesapeake Circuit Court clerk.
Angelica Curlee, 35, pleaded guilty in December to voluntary manslaughter after shooting and killing her husband Terry Curlee on August 19, 2007.
Court records show that morning the two were arguing over breakfast, disciplining their children and spending time together. Angelica went upstairs, as Terry followed. They struggled over a gun, a shot was fired, and Terry fell down the stairs.
The two married in 1994 and had three children.
Curlee was originally charged with first-degree murder but the charges were reduced.
