SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police are searching for a Suffolk teenager wanted for a long list of charges, including grand larceny, hit and run and escape from custody.

Alivia Burris, 19, is wanted by troopers with the Virginia State Police for grand larceny, hit and run, escape from custody, providing false ID to police, petit larceny, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice.

Suffolk Police say the trouble started Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m., when Burris crashed a stolen vehicle in a hit and run. According to officers, Burris called a man to pick her up at the scene. The man was reportedly driving a second stolen vehicle.

Suffolk Police Department spokeswoman Diana Klink said officers spotted that second vehicle, a 1995 white Dodge pick up, around 1:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of White Marsh Road. Police say Burris and the man were inside.

After officers detained the man, he began complaining of heat exhaustion. While waiting for medics to arrive, Burris, who was handcuffed, escaped into a nearby wooded area.

Police searched the area with canines. They found the handcuffs, but the did not find Burris.

She was last seen wearing black sweatpants with holes in both knees, a T-shirt with a picture of a duck and black and white shocks without shoes.

Police have asked for the public's help finding Burris and advised anyone who sees her to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
