SUFFOLK, Va. - A Suffolk woman charged with five counts of animal cruelty after five of her horses were found starving and tied to a tree back in September is again facing similar charges.
Suffolk police have charged Jennifer Harrell with another four counts of Animal Cruelty, six counts of Inadequate Care of Animals and three counts of No Rabies Vaccinations for Dogs.
Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George says Harrell left several dogs and rabbits without water. She says the dogs did not have water or adequate shelter.
WAVY.com was there when Harrell's horses were found off Wilroy Road in September. All of the horses were found tied to trees with dog leashes, given buckets of fresh water, but no food. After our story aired, a tip led Suffolk Animal Control to Harrell. One of those horses was euthanized days later. The other horses were transported to a foster farm and are said to be doing better.
Ten On Your Side's Lori Crouch is following this story and will bring you the very latest tonight on WAVY News 10 at 5 and 6.
