SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Wind gusts caused a brush fire off Trumpet Drive to spread Sunday.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue and the Virginia Department of Forestry have battled the fire for weeks, since it broke out on July 5.
Firefighters were called back to the location Sunday afternoon just before 3 p.m. after reports that the fire had jumped the fire line, according to a news release.
Monday, firefighters established a fire line and are monitoring the situation.
Officials estimate 15 acres are burning.
Resources from Suffolk Fire and Rescue, the Virginia Department of Forestry and Carrsville Fire Department are on scene. There are no reports of structures endangered.
