DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - A YouTube video was created to try and catch Nathan Summerfield, the man accused of killing his girlfriend, Lynn Jackenheimer, in the Outer Banks in early July.
Jackenheimer's sister, Tasha Holland, tells WAVY.com she is thrilled with a YouTube video that recently surfaced making Summerfield's face and car the star of the production. The video not only shows numerous pictures of Summerfield, his car and license plate but it also shows the lengths Jackenheimer's family and friends have gone to in order to find her suspected killer.
Holland says her family and friends regularly post wanted pictures of Summerfield in their hometown of Ashland, Ohio and neighboring states.
Jackenheimer's body was found July 14 under brush in Frisco, N.C. Investigators say her boyfriend, Nathan Summerfield strangled her , hid her body and then drove her children home to Ohio and dropped them off.
Holland says her family will never stop looking for their sister's alleged killer.
"I just want to keep it alive," Holland said. "I just want to keep it out there. He has all of our answers that we need to know, that I think we deserve to know and I think his kids, his child deserves to know. It hasn't been an easy road for Leland and Ciara."
Leland and Ciara are Jackenheimer's children. Summerfield is Leland's father.
"I don't know why we haven't found the vehicle or the license plate. I don't know why we haven't found him. Something has to change," Capt. Carl Reichert with the Ashland Sheriff's Office said. "I do know that the Deputy U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott has talked to the family of Nate Summerfield and the Summerfields, mother and father, has assured the Marshal's office that if they hear anything from their son that they will contact."
Reichert says searches for Summerfield continue by ground and helicopter. He says the Ashalnd Sheriff's Office assigned permanent officers to work with the U.S. Marshals only on this case. Reichert says U.S. Marshals are looking into the possibility that someone may be helping Summerfield hide out. However he admits there is "no confirmation that anyone is helping him."
Dare County Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard released the the following statement, Monday afternoon:
Our office has received several calls regarding progress on the Lynn Jackenheimer murder case, particularly, progress in locating Nathan Summerfield. The Ohio office of The United States Marshal’s Service is heading up the hunt for Summerfield in the Ohio area, where he is believed to be. They are assisted by the Ashland County, Ohio, Sheriff’s Office. Attempts to locate Summerfield have been unsuccessful at this writing. Investigators from Dare County have been to the Ashland Ohio area to conduct interviews, collect evidence, and meet with Ashland County investigators to begin to prepare for a trial. The cooperation from the Ohio authorities has been outstanding. A reward is also being offered for information leading to the arrest of Nathan Summerfield. To recap, he was last seen operating a 2009 grey Honda Civic four door, Ohio plate FMV7540, in the Ashland Ohio area. The US Marshal’s tip line is 1-866-4-WANTED.
