CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. (WAVY) - Drivers will now have to pay to drive on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
Starting February 15, off-road vehicle drivers must have a special use permit to drive on the seashore.
The cost of the annual permit is $120 and the cost of a 7-day permit is $50.
The permits were created to comply with executive orders and a National Park Service regulation.
Permits can be obtained beginning Feb. 15 at any of the three National Park Service permit offices located at Coquina Beach, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Visitor Center (Buxton), and the Ocracoke Visitor Center.
