Virginia Beach, VA (WAVY) - First-grade students at Princess Anne Elementary School have come up with very clever ways to try and trap a leprechaun.
It seems that every year at this time, the school is overrun with the pesky leprechauns.
"Tomorrow is Saint Patrick's Day," said first grader Katelyn Streuli.
The students designed and built their traps, but there is more to this than just catching a leprechaun. They are using principles they learned in class to build these traps.
"The force is a push. It's gravity," said Ryley Marx, as she showed how the leprechaun is supposed to fall into a grass covered hole in her trap.
The traps are set and ready to go, so with a little luck of the Irish, these first graders are hoping to find a pot of gold when they come back to school in the morning and check their leprechaun traps.
