VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man accused of stabbing and killing another man at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront last year was found guilty Thursday of second degree murder.

Police say Darron Marques Cary of Virginia Beach stabbed Bryant Michael Leary, also of Virginia Beach, in a Wendy's parking lot in May 2009. Leary underwent surgery at a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead from wounds suffered in the stabbing.

An altercation between Cary and Leary led to the stabbing, police said.

The jury recommended a 25-year jail sentence for Cary on Thursday afternoon. Formal sentencing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
