HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Residents in Hampton's Colonial Acres neighborhood woke up to an unbelievable sight Sunday morning. Police and residents say someone spray-painted gang signs and threats on two homes and one car in the area. The incidents were reported around 9 a.m.

"I'm just getting up this morning and I saw the graffiti on my car," said resident Raymond Desvarieux.

Police say all of the graffiti was done in black spray paint.

"I walked outside and saw across the street had been vandalized ," said one resident. "Some people down the street were completely spray painted."

"These are good people," said neighbor Melanie Cross. "They work hard. They keep their houses nice and for this to happen is just wrong."

Police say the vandals left a calling card on one of the residents garage. They believe the symbols are common gang signs.

"I don't like it," added Desvarieux.

Desvarieux has lived in the neighborhood for seven years. He says this is the first time something like this has ever happened and he hopes it's the last.

"They need help," said Desvarieux talking about the suspects. "They need counseling, because this is not supposed to happen."

The Hampton Police Department's Gang Unit is investigating the incidents. If/when the vandals are caught they will be charged with vandalism. Gang charges are also possible.

If anyone has information call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
