Woman killed after SUV hits tree

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A woman was killed Saturday night driving an SUV when she struck a tree head-on on East Sparrow Road.
Police say shortly before 9 p.m., 48-year-old Linda Gray was traveling westbound in the 800 block of East Sparrow Rd. when she lost control of her SUV which had left the roadway and hit a tree.
Medics pronounced Gray deceased at the scene, according to a press release from Virginia Beach police.
Police say that speed was a contributing factor in the crash and that Gray was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Virginia Beach's Fatal Crash Team is continuing to investigate the accident.
