VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach middle school teacher is behind bars accused of sex crimes against children.

A Kentucky internet task force agency contacted detectives with the Virginia Beach Police Department and said they discovered a Virginia Beach man was corresponding online with someone he believed to be a 14 year old girl.

Police arrested 54-year-old Randall Pilon the morning of August 27, at Salem Middle School on Lynnhaven Pkwy.

Pilon was charged with Attempted Indecent Liberties and Use of Communications Device to Facilitate Offenses Against Children.

Virginia Beach police spokeswoman Margie Hobbs told WAVY.com Pilon taught at Salem Middle School, where he was arrested.

The Virginia Beach Schools website lists Pilon as a social studies and special education teacher.
