VB celebrates first Cultural Festival

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The goal of Sunday’s first Cultural Festival in Virginia Beach was to build a stronger, more inclusive community.
Organizers called the festival “Autumn Colors – Leaves of Diversity.” The festival offered entertainment and education in hopes of raising awareness and understanding of different cultures as well as the struggle with hunger facing many around the world.
“We have different cultures and that’s the most important thing about this event,” Geraldine Hunt with Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission told WAVY.com. “That we learn about each other’s culture but not just learn about it, but learn to appreciate the differences.”
The event recognized World Food Day which is Oct. 16. and encouraged people to bring a food donation to the festival. Goods went to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.
