Man charged with pointing gun at bus

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a man involved in a dispute over a rebel flag in his truck has been charged with pointing a gun at a school bus while driving behind it.

According to Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department, 18-year-old Joshua Dalton of Virginia Beach was riding in a blue pickup truck with a female passenger when he allegedly pointed a gun at a school bus dropping children off at the intersection of Brian Avenue and Rachel Street.

Christine Wurzler has second-grade twins who got off the bus just before the incident took place.

"It does make me mad, because when my kids go to school I want them to home in one piece," Wurzler said.

Two students reported they saw Dalton point the gun at them and Moyers says the bus driver did not see the incident. Moyers says Dalton had been involved in a dispute regarding him displaying a rebel flag in his truck.

"He should have been old enough to know better," Wurzler said. "Whether it's a real gun or a pretend gun, you don't point it at people."

When police located Dalton, they found a weapon in his car. Dalton has been charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm, both misdemeanors. The female passenger was not charged.

10 On Your Side talked with the woman's brother today.  He said Dalton did not point a gun at anyone.  He said one of the boys on the bus threw something at his sister and when Dalton got out of the truck the children saw the gun.

The bus driver did not let the students exit the bus and instead drove them back to Pembroke Elementary School.
