VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach SWAT team has found two bodies inside a home on Lord Nelson Drive following reports of a possible shooting.
The SWAT team was called to the scene and bean bags were used to shoot out the home's windows. Officers then used a pole with a camera attached to see what was inside.
Neighbor Julius Wooten told WAVY.com, "...and then about 15-20 minutes ago I thought I heard about five or six shots, but I haven't seen anything else happen. But, those officers down there they have been crouched down behind those cars. They haven't put their heads up at all."
The bodies were discovered once SWAT made entry into the home.
According to Virginia Beach police spokesman Jimmy Barnes, at this point, it is unclear if anyone was shot. Police are not releasing the genders of the bodies, but neighbors told WAVY.com a father lived in the home with his adult son.
Police are now classifying the incidents as a double death investigation. No suspects are being sought.
Four Virginia Beach schools were placed on external lockdown due to the SWAT situation.
Virginia Beach City Public Schools spokesperson Eileen Cox said that Kempsville Elementary, Kempsville Middle, Kempsville High, and Providence Elementary Schools are on external lockdown, which means kids were not allowed outside for P.E.
Cox said students were released on time.
