VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Virginia Beach, where officers are saying the convenience store clerk fired at the suspect.
Police said a suspect entered the Indian Lakes Food Mart in the 1100 block of Indian Lakes Boulevard around 7:03 p.m.
The clerk told police the suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black mask covering his face, and armed with a handgun.
When the clerk saw that he was about to get robbed, he ran into a back office, grabbed his own gun, and fired one round at the suspect, police said.
The suspect fled the scene, and there was no indication that the suspect was shot.
According to police, the store has been robbed in the past.
