VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - WAVY.com has learned a Virginia Beach group is aiming to build a 5,000-seat baseball stadium in the resort city.
The group, Virginia Beach Professional Baseball, aims to lure a minor league baseball team to the city with a more than $6 million stadium.
If a stadium is built, the group will bring a team from the Atlantic Baseball League, which has produced players like Roger Clemens, Lou Ford and Carl Everrett.
The investors plan to spend $6 million of their own money to finance the project. The City of Virginia Beach is considering helping with taxes.
The project is set to go before city council some time this spring.
