VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have reopened a portion of Kempsville Road following a crash involving a pedestrian Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Margie Hobbs with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the crash occurred just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Kempsville Road and Lion’s Way. This is near Tallwood High School.
Jeffrey Barba with Virginia Beach Schools told WAVY.com the pedestrian struck is a 16-year-old male student at Tallwood High School. Barba added the teen was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
As a result of the crash, officers shut down the northbound lanes of Kempsville Road from Brandon Boulevard to Lion’s Way. They reopened before 10 a.m.
Jimmy Barnes with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the teen suffered non-life threatening injuries and it appears as though he will be fine. Barnes added traffic traveling northbound on Kempsville Road had a green light at the pedestrian crossing when the teen tried to cross the road.
