VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Officials from NAS Oceana are warning Beach residents about additional jet noise this week.
According to Kelly Stirling with Naval Air Station Oceana, the additional flight operations will take place throughout this week and Saturday at Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress.
Although the Navy reopened Fentress Air Field in October in hopes of cutting out some noise in Virginia Beach, residents say they haven't noticed much of a difference.
Every East Coast-based squadron in the Navy is currently stationed at Oceana, and squadrons belonging to the USS Eisenhower and Truman are conducting practices there as well.
"We haven't really noticed a big difference," Beach resident Ida Montalvo said. "The days that they're not flying is awesome but when they're flying I mean, it's pretty loud."
