VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - The passenger in a Ford Taurus was killed Saturday morning when the driver of the car struck a parked school bus, according to police.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said around 2:15 a.m. the car was traveling own Northwood Drive when it clipped the rear of a parked school bus on the passenger side of the car. The car continued down the road, struck a curb, then a fire hydrant and came to rest at the intersection of Northwood Drive and Meadowbridge Lane.
The passenger suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as Ryan Matthew Ballard, 31, of Virginia Beach.
The driver of the car, Thomas Eldon Walker, 32, of the 1600 block of Widgeon Court in Chesapeake, has been charged with DUI and involuntary manslaughter. He is being held without bond at Virginia Beach City jail.
