VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach man was gunned down and killed on his own doorstep late Saturday night.

Police responded to the 3200 block of Manor Glen Court around 10:39 p.m. after receiving reports of a man who had been shot.

When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a man inside his home who was unresponsive. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene, according to a police spokeswoman.

Investigators determined 52-year-old Robert Summerville was shot and killed on his doorstep during a dispute with an unknown man.

The suspect in the shooting is described as a black male, approximately 35 years old, with a light complexion and is around 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap and a black coat with the word "Timberland" on the front.

Police have not determined if the suspect fled on foot or if he got into a vehicle.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
