VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach man was sentenced to two years with all but 90 days suspended for tossing a puppy from a balcony and throwing a dog out of a car.
Enrico Calogero Farruggio, 22, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of animal cruelty. According to Macie Pridgen with the Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, Farruggio tossed a puppy from a balcony in April and threw a dog out of a car in March.
The Havanese puppy was found in critical condition and police were told he was thrown from a second floor balcony. According to investigators, Farruggio and woman were arguing and at some point during the argument, Farruggio grabbed the puppy from the female’s arms and threw it over the balcony.
On March 21, Farruggio threw a 5-year-old Havanese dog from a car in the 4200 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard. The dog was transported to a local veterinary hospital where its owners had it euthanized.
