VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Three young people were ejected from a vehicle after it crashed along Lynnhaven Parkway Sunday night, according to police.
Jimmy Barnes with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. when a Chevrolet Camaro traveling northbound accelerated and lost control in the 700 block of Lynnhaven Parkway.
According to Barnes, the Camaro struck two trees in the median before hitting a second vehicle that was also traveling northbound. Three passengers, said to be teenagers or young adults, were ejected from the vehicle.
One of those victims suffered critical injuries. All three were transported to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, Barnes said. The driver was uninjured.
The occupants of the second vehicle, a Nissan, were not injured.
Barnes said speed was a contributing factor to the crash.
