Fatal motorcylce crash on Shore Drive

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach police are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

Police spokesperson Adam Bernstein tells WAVY.com the accident happened at 11:41 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Shore Drive and Diamond Springs Road.

Bernstein says the driver was heading southbound on Shore Drive when he went through a red light, lost control of the motorcycle and hit a median.

Crews arrived to find the motorcyclist suffering from severe trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Jason Gregory Potts of Virginia Beach. They are investigating whether alcohol was a factor.
