VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Smoke poured into the air above the Steppin' Out restaurant and night club in Virginia Beach near 600 Nevan Road early Wednesday morning. Fire crews were dispatched at 3:23 a.m. and were on scene at 3:29 a.m.
Fire officials say heavy black smoke and flames were discovered coming from the refrigeration unit, quickly spreading to the rest of the structure.
Firefighters surrounded the building and battled the flames from the outside. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from coming through the roof, which left the rest of the building with heavy smoke damage and minimal fire damage.
Fire crews had the fire under control in a little over an hour, at 4:38 a.m.
Firefighters say no one was in the restaurant at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
