Kings Grant House adds Project Livesaver

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach facility is going the extra mile to make sure their residents stay safe.

Fridya, the Kings Grant House announced it will enroll all of their memory-impaired residents in the Virginia Beach Project Lifesaver Program. The organization provides transmitters to people who could wander off due to Alzheimer’s, brain injuries or other conditions.

That way, it makes it easier for police to find them.

“This is the first in the nation that we know of that’s done this sort of program,” MPO Allen Perry with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com. “We got this idea about a year ago and we’ve been developing it since then.”

“We’re excited about it, one of the things that we really try to do is maintain our residents’ independence and this is just one more way to do that,” Marjorie Pantone with King’s Grant House added.

Project Lifesaver hopes other assisted living facilities will consider the program.
