VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - One Virginia Beach fire station suffered some fire damage when a heater malfunctioned Friday.

According to Battalion Chief Tim Riley with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, a heater in the ceiling of the weight room at Station 21 on Nimmo Parkway sparked a small fire. A portion of the ceiling was damaged and crashed to the floor.

The fire station remained open during the ordeal.
