VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Three people were reportedly attacked by a rabid fox in a Virginia Beach neighborhood Monday evening, including a child.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department told WAVY.com dispatchers received a call just after 6 p.m. for a report of a fox attack in the 3900 block of Border Way. The caller reported her family was attacked.
According to a dispatcher report, an 8-year-old, 17-year-old and 45-year-old were bitten by a fox.
Just twenty minutes later, the fox was hit by a vehicle and was not moving in the street, Moyers said. Animal Control was on scene by 6:25 p.m.
Most patients were either taken to the hospital by personal vehicle or did not require medical attention.
One of the victims contacted WAVY.com Thursday and confirmed the fox tested positive for rabies.
