VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Firefighters battled a fire at a Virginia Beach hair salon Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to Shear Designs at 1992 General Booth Blvd. just before 1:30 p.m. for reports of a commercial fire.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
A spokesman for the Virginia Beach Fire Department told WAVY.com that improperly discarded smoking material started the fire which caused moderate damage to an exterior deck at the business and some vinyl siding.
The interior of the business suffered minimal damage.
No firefighters were injured in the fire and two people who suffered minor smoke inhalation refused medical treatment.
