VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Fire investigators determined unattended cooking sparked the fire at a Virginia Beach townhouse Wednesday night.
Officials say eight people were displaced following the fire in the 600 block of Red Horse Lane.
According to Ken Pravitz with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, crews were on scene just after 7 p.m. The house suffered significant smoke damage, displacing all residents of the townhome's two units.
According to Battalion Chief Tim Riley, the cause was a grease fire.
