VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A 35-year-old man has been charged with DUI in a deadly crash that killed one of his passengers Saturday evening in Virginia Beach.
Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department said officers arrested Michael Douglas McIntyre of Norfolk in connection to a crash in the 2800 block of Ansol Lane. McIntyre has been charged with DUI, involuntary manslaughter and driving with a suspended license.
Officers responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Borman said the investigation revealed McIntyre was operating a 2000 LIncoln LS at a high rate of speed westbound on Ansel Lane when he crossed the street, ran off the roadway and hit several trees.
McIntyre and one passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A second passenger, Robert Martin Lancaster, 44, of Norfolk died at the scene.
McIntyre is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
