VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Fire crews were called to Chase Arbor Apartments Friday night for a two-alarm fire.

One unit, located in the 1600 block of Chase Arbor Commons, was filled with heavy flames when firefighters arrived. Because of the potential for nighttime rescues and the possibility of the fire spreading to other units, a second alarm was called.

Virginia Beach Fire Battalion Chief Riley says the fire was started by unattended cooking. The residents were cooking, then left to go to McDonalds, leaving oil frying. Two occupants were asleep at the time, but escaped uninjured.

Crews got the fire under control quickly and no one was hurt.
