VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A cement truck overturned along a Virginia Beach road Monday morning, leaking its contents.
According to Jimmy Barnes with the Virginia Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Sandbridge Road, near the fire station. The cement truck was traveling eastbound when it flipped onto its side.
The truck is leaking cement and hydraulic fluid, according to police. The driver of the cement truck was transported to the hospital. No other vehicles were involved.
Sandbridge Road was closed in the area until 2 p.m. According to police, the vehicle was uprighted, but cleanup was expected to take several hours due to road damage and the spill.
A detour was in place through the Dam Neck base. Officers directed traffic through the base to get drivers to Sandbridge.
