Careless smoking causes townhouse fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Crews responded to a townhouse fire in the 2500 block of Sierra Arch in Virginia Beach at 11:42 a.m. Monday.

According to Chief Tim Riley with Virginia Beach Fire, the cause of the fire was careless smoking, starting on the exterior of the house and spreading into the attic.

One dog named Sadie was rescued from the home. There were no injuries.
