VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A man police say robbed a Virginia Beach bank Saturday morning was captured just minutes after the crime occurred.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said an officer on patrol saw a suspicious male enter the Wells Fargo located at 675 Lynnhaven Pkwy. around 9 a.m. He radioed dispatch to let them know about the male and parked his vehicle in the parking lot.
The suspect was then spotted running out of the bank as a second officer arrived on scene.
Both officers chased the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Aaron Joe Allen, into a wooded area near the bank and arrested him.
Moyers said an investigation revealed Allen entered the bank and demanded money from the victim after implying he had a weapon. Police say Allen fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and ran into the wooded area after spotting the officers.
Allen has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm. He is incarcerated at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
