VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have made two arrests in connection with the robbery of a local restaurant.
34-year-old Scotty Eugene Miller and 38-year-old Mason Thomas Wolf, Jr. were arrested for their alleged roles in the robbery of Harold's Restaurant, located in 4400 block of Virginia Beach Blvd.
"I had nothing to do with this robbery," said Miller from inside the Virginia Beach Jail.
Miller wanted to clear his name with WAVY.com after police said he and his brother, Mason Wolf, were the men responsible for the robbery.
"I would never put somebody in that fear and harm," Miller added. "I would never do that. I'm a family man."
On June 28, surveillance video from the restaurant showed two men coming into the restaurant right before it was open. Owner Harold Owens was the only person in the restaurant.
Back in July, Owens told WAVY.com, "they obviously knew what they were doing, because they got in and out."
Owens added, "The first one that came in, came into [the] office with his gun pointed at me and asked for money."
The man then dragged Owens by his shirt from register to register, while the other suspect checked the bathrooms to make sure no one else was in the restaurant.
The robbers grabbed whatever cash they could find and led Owens into the freezer.
"He opened the door, he stepped in, pointed the gun at me and I thought he was going to shoot me," Owens said, "I just said 'please don't shoot me' and he closed the door."
Two months later, Virginia Beach Police said their investigation lead them to Miller and Wolf.
Police searched the suspects' homes, both in the 900 block block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, and we're told they found evidence to link them to the crime.
"I've never done this crime, me or my brother," Miller added. "I don't hang out down at Town Center. I have absolutely no idea where this guy's restaurant is."
Miller was arrested in his home on August 12.
Wolf was not found in his home, police arrested him during a traffic stop the next day.
Miller and Wolf are being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center. The men are charged with two counts of armed robbery, abduction, and use of a firearm, conspiracy to commit a felony and wearing a mask in public.
Police said Wolf is also facing a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge.
Miller told WAVY.com he will make his first court appearance next Thursday.
