5 people displaced, 2 cats die in fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach fire that left five people displaced and two cats dead remained under investigation Monday afternoon.
According to Chief James Ramsey with the Virginia Beach Fire Department, crews were on scene of a house fire in the 1200 block of Grassy Hollow Place off of North Great Neck Road just after 3 p.m. and the fire was under control at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Ramsey says of the five of the home's occupants two were home and were alerted of the fire by smoke detectors.
The home and its garage suffered extensive damage and the fire is under investigation, according to Ramsey.
