VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A $250,000 piece of paper will be worth nothing unless its owner claims it before 5 p.m. on June 20.
Virginia Lottery officials say a Mega Millions lottery ticket was bought for the Dec. 23, 2011 drawing at the 7-Eleven at 325 Kellam Road in Virginia Beach. The ticket is a winner of the $250,000 prize, but no one has claimed the prize yet.
By law, winning tickets expire 180 days after drawing.
The winning numbers were 2-5-8-18-29 with the Mega Ball number of 14. Had the ticket matched the Mega Ball number, it would have won $173 million. This ticket was the only one in Virginia to win $250,000 in the drawing.
Lottery officials say unclaimed winnings to to the state literary fund, which is used for educational purposes.
