VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WAVY) - A Virginia Beach woman in her 80s was attacked Sunday night in her home located in the 3400 block of Sale Drive.

Virginia Beach police tell WAVY.com that the suspect raped her, then asked for money.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18-20 years old with medium build, about 5-foot-9 or 10 inches, wearing all black. The victim was watching television at about 10:30 p.m. when she got up to go down the hallway. That's when police say the suspect grabbed her.

"He confronts her, he grabs her, takes her into a room and sexually assaults her," said Adam Bernstein, a Virginia Beach police spokesman. "After the sexual assault he demanded money. She gave him a little bit of money and he fled on foot."

David Williamson, a neighbor of the victim said, "It's pretty quiet around here most of the time. The only time you see cops come in are when people are getting tickets from the main drag out there."

The case remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Police Department's Special Victims Unit.

If you have any information that could help investigators, you're asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
